Born in Rome in 1965, I studied physics at the University of Rome and graduated in 1990 with a thesis about cavity quantum electrodynamics (enhancement and inhibition of fluorescence in optical microcavities). After the PhD studies about the alteration of the Raman effect under electromagnetic confinement, I was with prof. Herbert Walther at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics in Garching, Germany (Lamb shift in microcavities). Currently, I have a permanent position as researcher in ENEA (Italian National Agency for new Technology, Energy and sustainable economic Development) and teach thermodynamics at the University of Rome.
